Little Si Trailhead

Fixed line travel with crampons to summit of Haystack. Includes ~3700' elevation gain as well as ~7 miles on trail (round trip). Listed as 'leader permission required' so leaders can verify students have adequate conditioning as well as prior crampon, ice axe, and winter gear experience (technical portion requires good balance which would be a stretch for folks tired by approach). Bring crampons, helmet, ice axe, harness/slings, and winter 10 essentials (especially heavier clothing to wear during ascent of haystack). Relatively early start time is due to popularity of Little Si Parking Lot. See following links for route map, gear suggestions, past pictures, or Skill Conditioner Overview. INSTRUCTOR REQUIREMENT: Basic Climbing Graduate, LEADER REQUIREMENT: Climb Leader (technical terrain involving rope and harness), ATTENDEES: students or graduates of Basic Climbing

Only for scramble graduates as we'll be trying a scramble approach that uses the wooded ridge west of the Old Si trail. A map with the approximate route of this approach can be seen here.
