THIS CLASS IS OPEN TO REGISTRATION BY BACKPACKING BUILDING BLOCKS STUDENTS ONLY! Class Objective: Expand your ability to eat well and maintain your energy on the trail, with minimum cost, weight, cooking time and cleanup.Outline: "Want to enjoy your favorite ‘comfort food’ on a backpack trip with minimal weight, prep time, cleanup or smelly bulky trash to pack out? Want an alternative to the high sodium and high expense of pre-packaged dehydrated meals? Want tips for planning your backpacking menus to maintain your energy and avoid the ‘bonk’? This class will include some tried-and-true ideas for planning and prep before your trip, food for the trail and food prep at camp. You will also get some resources for ordering inexpensive dehydrated staples and preparing your own, from your favorite recipes. This class is for new backpackers and also for experienced ones who have learnings and recipes to share. We’ll have some samples to rehydrate and taste, and encourage participants to bring their own samples, experiences and questions."

Two duplicate sessions of this seminar are being offered to keep class sizes small for hands-on engagement. PLEASE SIGN UP FOR ONLY ONE OF THE SESSIONS!

This seminar is a value added benefit of the Backpacking Building Blocks course and is free for paid B3 participants. Signups from Feb 15 through April 15 are for B3 course participants only. At 8PM on April 15, a session will be opened to all Mountaineers members not in the B3 course, at a $25 per person price.
