Entrance to Sol Duc Resort office.

Travel through old growth forest past Sol Duc Falls, along Canyon Creek, to the lovely subalpine setting of Deer Lake camp surrounded by meadow and conifers, Wildflowers and huckleberries in season. Deer often visit lakeshore. Options for further hiking - path circling Deer Lake and trail beyond leads to tarns, more wildflowers, and expansive views.

Meet at the entrance to the Sol Duc Resort office, Olympic National Park. For those willing to car camp, this hike can be combined with the backpack trip to Second Beach, April 29-May 1 and the day hike to Dungeness Spit (SVTC) on May 3. Separate signup is required for those trips and campsite reservations would need to be made for May 1 at Sol Duc Campground and May 2 at Dungeness Spit Campground.
