This 2.5 hour evening course provides experienced hikers or backpackers information they need to become an effective hike or backpack leader. This course is a pre-requisite (along with a mentor hike/backpack and committee approval) to becoming an official hike or backpack leader for the club. Also included are club hiking standards and processes, some outdoor leadership insights, valuable resources for further learning, and demo/practice of how to enter hikes and activity reports on the club website. Past and current hike leaders as well as those interested in becoming a new leader are invited to participate. The workshop is free and open to all Mountaineers members, but please signup online so we can anticipate group size.

Experienced hikers/backpackers and members interested in becoming a volunteer hike or backpack leader are welcome to attend this 2.5 hour workshop. Attending this workshop is step one to becoming a new hike/backpack leader. About a week before this session you will receive advance reading materials via email and web link to prepare you for scenario discussions and provide essential background material that won't be presented in the class.
