Get your donations and volunteer hours matched
Many companies sponsor generous Workplace Giving Programs to support their employee’s charitable contributions and volunteer commitments to the community. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, all donations and membership dues are 100% tax-deductible and eligible for match.
As the foremost outdoor recreation organization of the Pacific Northwest, The Mountaineers is dedicated to educating and inspiring people of all ages to explore the outdoors and conserve and steward public lands and waters. When you take advantage of your employer’s Workplace Giving Program, you maximize the impact of your volunteer hours, membership dues and charitable donations, and can double, sometimes triple your impact.
What's Matched in A workplace Giving Program
Depending on your companies Workplace Giving Program, the following may be eligible to be matched by your employer:
- Volunteer hours for courses, activities and committees. Virtual committee meetings, planning future courses, preparing online curriculum, and hosting virtual events are also matched! With nearly 2,800 volunteers contributing over 54,000 reported volunteer hours in the last fiscal year, the potential support from employer matching is huge!
- Individual donations made on our website, through automatic payroll deductions, or at any of our fundraising events. A $200 gift can become $400; a $50 donation can become $100. When every dollar makes a difference just imagine what doubling your gift can do! If you are considering a year-end gift and submitting it for matching, you can give online here.
- Annual membership. All Mountaineers membership types are 100% tax-deductible and eligible for matching by many employers.
Many companies will match donations 1 to 1, doubling an employee’s donation. Some businesses, like the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, have match ratios as high as 3 to 1, tripling an employee’s contribution! Organizations like Microsoft not only match dollar for dollar, but also provide grants to nonprofits donating $25 per volunteer hour. Other companies like Boeing will offer team volunteer grants to recognize groups of employees, scaling the gift by the number of employees who volunteer together.
MATCHING IS EASY! HERE'S HOW TO SUBMIT:
To find out if your company matches, simply contact your Human Resources department. They can tell you what benefits you have and how to participate.

Protip: Using our Tax ID is especially important for companies with online-based verification systems. Some volunteers have shared that it can be tricky to find “The Mountaineers” since other organizations or groups with similar names may be listed. By using our Tax ID, you ensure that your gift will be directed to “The Mountaineers”.
After you submit for a corporate match, please email us or forward your confirmation email to development@mountaineers.org to let us know. We have recently experienced increased instances of corporate matches accidentally going to incorrect organizations, so this will help us verify that your match will be successfully directed to The Mountaineers.
