Day Hike - Vancouver Island
Naturalist and photography-oriented road trip on Vancouver Island that includes car camping, short hikes and a full day cruise on a merchant vessel. Photographers of all skills welcome!

Meet at the Green Lake Park & Ride (65th and 5th) at the north-most end of the parking lot at 4am.
We will need to leave promptly in order to drive to Anacortes and catch our ferry to Sidney, B.C.
Please note that you will need a passport for the border crossing (Anacortes to Sidney).
Day 1 – Monday, June 8
- Leave Seattle and drive to Anacortes to catch the ferry to Sidney, BC

- Drive from Sidney to Gold River and camp at Gold River Municipal Campground (5 hour drive) - http://www.villageofgoldriver.com/municipal-facilities.html
- $12 per vehicle per night (reserve 2 nights)
- This is first come, first served, but since it's a weekday, we should be ok.
Day 2 – Tuesday, June 9
- Board the MV UChuck III for a full day sailing adventure of Nootka Sound - https://www.getwest.ca/cruises/nootka-sound-cruise/
- Cost is $80 ($75/senior fare) Canadian per person
- Camp at Gold River Municipal Campground
Day 3 – Wednesday, June 10
- Drive to Elk Falls Provincial Park
- Make camping reservation for one night ($22) starting Feb. 10th - https://discovercamping.ca/ElkFalls (I'm in site #60)
- Explore park with its waterfalls and suspension bridge
Day 4 – Thursday, June 11
- Drive to Goldstream Provincial Park
- Make camping reservation for one night ($35) starting Feb. 11th - https://discovercamping.ca/GoldstreamProvincialPark (I'm in site #41)
- After setting up camp, drive into Victoria and explore the area for photo ops
Day 5 – Friday, June 12
- Drive to Sidney for ferry back to Anacortes *

- Return home
*You may take the ferry from Nanaimo to Vancouver if you prefer for the trip home
Approximate Costs:
- Ferry (each way)
