Outdoor conditioning experts Courtenay and Doug Schurman present this three-part series for pack carriers on how to thrive in the mountains. Session 1 (1/22): Program Development. Session 2 (2/18): Nutrition and Hydration. Session 3 (3/5): Feel Good on and off the trail. Independent, not sequential, classes. Join 1, 2, or all 3 but register for each separately.

We will cover cardiovascular endurance, anaerobic training, strength training, flexibility and mobility exercises, and recovery elements specific to hiking, trekking, scrambling, climbing, and backpacking. Participants will leave understanding how to mix training components into a weekly, monthly, and seasonal plan specific to their body’s needs and sports.
This seminar series is designed for anyone involved in pack-carrying activities, from urban walking to alpine climbing, but all are welcome.

Meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Seattle Program Center. 1.5 hours of instruction with time for Questions and Answers afterward.
Required Equipment
Sense of humor, pen and paper for notes, and comfortable clothing so you can move as part of demonstrations (if desired).
