Day Hike - Coulee Corridor Birding Trail

Love birds? Grab your camera and join us on this 3-day road trip along the birding trail where we could see migrating sandhill cranes, raptors, and hundreds of other birds. Photographers of all skills welcome!

  • Casual

6:45 AM at Green Lake Park & Ride (65th & 5th) at the north-most end of the parking lot.

Be sure to bring your camping gear as we will be camping at both Potholes State Park and Sun Lakes State Park. Sites are first come, first served at this time of year, but there wasn't any problem getting a site in March the last time I organized this trip.

A super telephoto lens is recommended for this trip. You can rent one fairly cheaply at http://www.borrowlenses.com/ or https://www.lensrentals.com/

Day 1 - Friday, March 27

We will be using this birding map to drive to our locations the first two days and this birding map for the drive home on day 3.

For those wishing to stop at the Wild Horse Renewable Energy Center to look for birds on the property, you much fill out this form. After completion, it will send you and email with the permit - print it out and bring with you.

I also created a map of the locations with coordinates with Google Maps.

Note: I plan to have a pre-trip meeting on Thursday, March 19th at my house - I'll send email about it a few days before that date.
