Meet at 10 AM at the Hurricane Ridge Visitors' Center, reached from Port Angeles by heading south on Race Street, continuing onto Mt. Angeles Road. At the Park entrance, each car must show a National Park Pass or pay a $25 entrance fee.
This hike is part of the July 20-21 North Olympics Car Camp, involving hiking on Saturday to the Dungeness Spit Lighthouse, camping Saturday night at Dungeness Campground and hiking on Sunday to Sunrise Ridge. Anyone registering for this hike must also register for the Dungeness Spit hike and camp Saturday night in one of the campsites reserved at Dungeness Campground. Leader permission for this hike is required to assure compliance with this requirement. Prepaid campsite fees will be shared by all participants.
This is a pleasant hike through flowered alpine meadows, with spectacular distant views, weather permitting. Following the hike, we will have time to explore the visitor center. On the drive home we can have an optional meal stop at the Asian Buffet Restaurant, the Hi-Way 101 Diner or Fat Smitty's, depending on where we are at meal time.
See the Tacoma Branch Events Calendar for a complete description of the car camp.
