Alpine Scramble - Revolution Peak via Thompson Point
Although posted under Zorro Pt, we never summit-ted Zorro. Many miles, but easy scramble when dry. Great 360 views of lots of peaks from the summit.

The Granite Lake Trailhead is a couple miles past the Mailbox Trailhead, on the right side, just before the concrete bridge. It's a new trailhead with a very nice bathroom. Discover Pass needed.
Four of us departed the TH at 7:45am on a beautiful fall day. Hard to believe the weather forecast was for 67 degrees this late in the year. This new trail is in great condition and in the trees until the Thompson Lake junction is reached. They even situated comfortable log benches to rest on for the first few miles. Not too long after leaving the junction, views appear and one can see Thompson Pt, Revolution Peak and the traverse. The trail (used to be a road) isn't quite as nice after the junction, but certainly still easy to follow. Continuing up the trail (road) one soon reaches the interesting abandoned cabin located just below Thompson Point. View of Revolution Peak from the cabin.Heading west from the cabin and still on the trail (road) which soon disappears into a bootpath once Thompson Pt (5124') is reached. This is when the scrambling starts. It takes us about a hour mainly staying on the treed ridge, following sometimes faint, sometimes very defined bootpath to a saddle and then up to the summit of Revolution. There is some bushwacking although some might be avoided by dropping down a bit. Not sure how easy it would be to do this in the winter, but sure was easy on this dry day. Picture of Christine on our return after making the 1 move that needed hands. We spent close to an hour on the sunny summit enjoying the 360 views of so many peaks we're familiar with.Looking back at the cabin below Thompson Pt.Another hour to do the traverse back to Thompson Pt and soon we're at the cabin again. Before too long, we're also back on the good trail and to our cars. Wonderful day in every way. Approximate stats:
15 miles
5000' gain
9hrs car to car w/1 hr on the summit and add'l time to stop at the cabin and filter water.
