Trip Report

Basic Rock Climb - The Tooth/South Face

Excellent, easy alpine climb in a scenic area.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles

Graduation climb for two students. The route was not very busy despite it being a holiday weekend. There were 2 parties ahead of us, but we did not get delayed much by them. Tooth Fairy seemed to be a more popular route today. Couple small streams on approach route to refill water.

The hike in was a quick 2 hours 30 mins for us, and the sun hit the north-east face of The Tooth as we started up the gully.

We climbed the route as two teams of two. I built a separate anchor on a couple pitches to avoid crowding with the party ahead of us. Three hours, and we were up at the summit. Felt like a bit of a sauna on the south-facing rock, but very enjoyable climbing - especially the final pitch.

We chilled out at the summit for an hour or so, sharing treats and sang happy birthday to Ayla!
