Day Hike - Mailbox Peak

Beautiful day for Old up and New down for Mailbox Peak. Compact snow & ice on top - bring those microspikes.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles

  • Compact snow and ice from the spot where old and new trails meet.  Microspikes were required.  

    If this warm period keeps up, be careful for postholing.  Not an issue for us but I think it will be soon.  

Great hike with plenty of pace for the group.   We hiked up old trail and down new on a beautiful sunny northwest March day.   Glad to have a down coat to stay warm at the top while getting the mandatory photos from this iconic hike.  

Parking lots had good space at 7 AM open but I hear they filled fast.

One note - still way too much trash being left behind on the trail and very happy to have a member of the group that remembered trash bags and cleaned up much of it along the way!
