As someone who cares deeply about the outdoors, you’re well positioned to be an effective advocate - it just takes a little training and knowing the best opportunities to engage. In addition to advocating on behalf of our community of more than 16,000 outdoor enthusiasts, The Mountaineers amplifies opportunities to leverage your voice to advance conservation and recreation policy and create new ways to deepen your engagement in our conservation work.
Our community of Mountaineers advocates continues to grow, and we’re excited to come together virtually on June 4 from 6:30pm to 7:30pm to share the latest policy updates from our conservation team, including where our conservation and recreation priorities stand in Congress and how we continue to advocate for funding for federal land managers. We hope you’ll be able to join online, but if not, we’ll record the event and share it with all registrants afterward.
Conservation and recreation have proven to be bipartisan issues amidst an increasingly divided congressional landscape, and this year is no exception. The EXPLORE Act - a package of bills that would improve the federal recreational permitting process, protect wilderness climbing, and enhance sustainable and equitable access to outdoor recreation - passed the House in April and is poised for consideration by the Senate this year.
We’re also hopeful for an opportunity to pass the Wild Olympics bill and secure new wilderness protections for the Olympic National Forest through a potential package of public lands bills. On the administrative front, there’s been several recent national conservation wins that conserve public lands and center outdoor recreation in public lands management across the country. Come hear about these and other priorities and how you can be an effective advocate.
RSVP to attend our 60-minute virtual event to connect with us and other conservation-minded Mountaineers. Your participation will also help blossom future grassroots advocacy opportunities offered by The Mountaineers.
Registrants will receive a Zoom meeting link on the day of the event. Thanks for advocating with us to protect public lands and the outdoor experience. Together, we can shape a better outdoors for future generations of Mountaineers.
