on the trail
This hike takes you to the least populated island in the San Juans served by the ferry system. Walking along tranquil country roads, you will enjoy views of Blind Bay and open fields as you head to the charming, well-stocked community library and rural schoolhouse. You can also visit a rustic local history museum next to the library. Heading next to Shaw Island County Park, you will enjoy views of Indian Cove and find picnic tables for a lunch stop. From the park, head east on Squaw Bay Rd. and in 0.25 mile look for a sign on your right marking the trail to Graham Preserve. Follow the trail north through woodlands for about 0.5 mile before heading slight downhill to the Shaw Island Community Center. Then follow Blind Bay Road to the right back to the ferry dock.
