This is a trip with registration priority for Backpacking with Kids 2023 and 2022 participants until 8/09 - then any adult with a child may request permission.
We'll enjoy an easygoing mosey pace along a gorgeous 4 mile traverse (1300 ft of gain) to our campsite on a ridge near Goat Lake. There are several camping options, including the ridge itself or closer to Goat Lake. We can make a decision as a group as to where we feel most comfortable.
While there are pit toilets at Artist's Point and the Austin Lakes Picnic Area, Mount Baker requires the use of Blue Bags for disposal of human waste in the backcountry, so please be prepared with a personal wag bag for yourself and your child.
Either a NW Forest Pass or an America the Beautiful pass is required to park at the trailhead.
I'll send out an email with additional information about a week before the trip.
