The weekend will include a variety of lectures, interactive and practice sessions, and will also build in an extended break at mid-day on Saturday to allow you to get out and explore the area and get some exercise.
The session is intended for active Mountaineers leaders who are current Global Adventure leaders or have a serious intention to become one. You must submit an application to be a Global Adventures Leader prior to registering for this clinic. https://www.mountaineers.org/volunteer/volunteer-with-us/leader-applications-folder/global-adventures-leader-application After submitting your application, the leader's permission will be granted so you can register for this clinic.
Mountaineers Global Adventures are any Mountaineers-sanctioned activities which could be in either of the following categories:
* Multi-day Mountaineers activities within North America or Hawaii that involve leaders making advance arrangements for some or all of the logistics and services, and participants paying the leader or the club for those services before the trip.
* Any Mountaineers activity that goes outside of North America/Hawaii.
Because such trips tend to involve a much greater level of complexity in planning, financial management and group dynamics than a typical short-duration Mountaineers activity close to home, Global Adventures involve a set of incremental leader requirements, trip approval procedures and expectations during and after the trip.
This training session is required of all current and new Global Adventures Leaders who want to propose a trip in the future, and will provide you with the basics you'll need to put together a safe and enjoyable Adventure that will move speedily through the approval process, attract a full roster of participants, and be completed safely and successfully within Mountaineers requirements and with the greatest enjoyment by all participants.
Meals on Saturday and Sunday are provided, as are your overnight accommodations (dormitory style). Once you've registered, we will contact you about any dietary restrictions and specific arrival plans.
