Who comes to help when you're injured or overdue on the trails? Here in the Northwest it's usually the local county's Search & Rescue volunteers, highly-trained "unpaid professionals" who spend their personal time helping others. Join us to learn about how King County SAR is organized, about the nine specialty units (mountain rescue, search dogs, etc), and the typical mission profile. Additionally, we'll learn how Covid-19 has impacted the SAR mission profile, the responders, and search & rescue operations in general.
Zoom contact info will be emailed to registered participants the evening before.
Erik Swanson is an Operations Leader in King County Search & Rescue, with 10 years and 250 missions worth of experience. Erik is also a Mountaineers Snowshoe, Day Hike, and Backpack leader, and is past chair of the Seattle Snowshoeing Committee.
