Easygoing midweek family backpacking trip. Registration priority for Backpacking with Kids 2023 and 2022 course participants until 7/1 and then registration available to any adult with a child with leader permission.

Meet at the Deer Creek Horse Camp parking lot at 12:00pm, leaving parking lot at 12:15 (on Google maps it is the Copper City trail - https://goo.gl/maps/SNigqEBaFJmkF9bz8)

This will be a leisurely paced backpacking trip for families with children, with pacing and activities geared toward them.

Tuesday, 7/25 - Meet at Deer Creek Horse Camp Parking lot - hike 3.17mi, 1188ft gain to Twin Sisters Lakes

Camp at Twin Sisters Lakes

 

Wednesday, 7/26 - Hike from Twin Sisters Lakes to Blankenship Lakes - 3mi, 380ft gain

Camp at Blankenship Lakes

 

Thursday, 7/27 - Hike from Blankenship Lakes back to cars - 3mi, -1227ft loss

The Ten Essentials plus overnight gear which may include:

  • Tent with footprint/ground tarp
  • Stove and fuel
  • Sleeping bag
  • Sleeping pad
  • Water filter
  • Bear canister or extra stuff sack and cord designated for hanging food
  • Cooking pot/pan with plate and utensils
  • Toilet paper and shovel or blue bag to deal with waste
