Day Hike - Poo Poo Point from High Point Trailhead
A great early morning loop hike with steep approach, packed snow at higher elevations (requiring microspikes), and a muddy and less steep descent back to the trailhead. ~7.5 miles and 1800' elevation gain in 5 hours including stops.

This route gains a lot of elevation in the first 2 miles, so trail and weather conditions can change quickly. We encountered wet ground and light rain at the lower elevations, turning into packed, slippery snow starting around 1500', where we donned our microspikes the rest of the way to Poo Poo Point. The descent down Poo Poo Point Trail was muddy and slippery in some places.
We met in the Tiger Mountain TH parking lot at 7:30am, and after brief introductions we were on the trail by 7:45.
The first 0.25 mi. is flat until the turnoff south onto the lesser-used Nook Trail, where things get steep quickly. We donned our rain jackets during some brief light rain, and made it to the junction with Talus Rocks Trail around 8:20am.

A zig right and a zag left took us to the even steeper Upper Section Line Trail, where we encountered our first snow on the ground. The snow was packed and slippery, so we donned our microspikes, removing them during a brief snow interlude under denser foliage, before donning them again for the rest of the morning.

We reached the West Tiger Railroad Grade around 9:15am and celebrated the completion of most of our day's elevation gain with a brief rest. Spirits high and weather improving, we traversed the RR grade in a little more than one hour. This portion of the route is mostly flat, with occasional mild scrambling required to get up and down some short, steep slopes, especially around stream crossings.

A short and steep descent of the One View Trail took us to the main Poo Poo Point Trail and... Poo Poo Point! We reached the summit at 11:00am and stopped for a brief snack/lunch. No paragliders today but beautiful views and relatively quiet at the summit. Thank you Doug for sharing delicious homemade corn bread!

Our return journey via the Poo Poo Point and Bus Trails was relatively uneventful, apart from some wet and slippery mud.
The total time car-to-car was 5 hours. The party bonded well, friendships were made, and there was much rejoicing. Thank you to the group for a great hike!
