Discover the Alps of Western Austria

On this summer’s Global Adventures trip, hike the European way: combine stunning scenery with uncrowded trails, comfortable lodging, tasty cuisine, and high mountain huts. We’ll travel through a wonderful land, high above the picturesque valleys. We’ll wander through alpine meadows and across rock slopes; lunch at scenic huts; reach high tarns and passes; and have breathtaking views. Learn how to trek the mountains traveling hut-to-hut.

Our trip starts in Munich, Germany, and travels to the ski-resort town of Lech in northwestern Austria. We will day-hike for five days in the limestone Alps that encircle the town. Then we’ll shift our base south to the town of Schruns, in the Montafon valley near the Swiss border. We’ll day-hike to the summit of a rock spire, then hike along a high belvedere to a hut beneath the glacier-clad Piz Buin. After a night in a mountain inn, we’ll travel hut-to-hut for several days in the high regions of the Silvretta Range.
