A collection of trip reports as golden as a larch. Read on, dear friends, for mediocre views, a failed comet sighting, wumping sea lions, our first taste of snow, a beautiful day in the neighborhood, and more.

Whitewater Packraft - Lower Deschutes River - 10/1

tr1.jpeg"Excellent trip with fun and safe class III whitewater." -Alex Bond

Even mediocre views couldn't keep this crew from a happy weekend on the Deschutes

Backcountry Trail Run - Longs Pass & Lake Ingalls - 10/6

IMG_8486.jpg"Truly a backcountry route with rugged, steep, and rocky trails and some route-finding required!" -Amalija Kopac

One thing I know for certain: if it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, then it's (without a doubt) an even more beautiful day at Lake Ingalls.

Alpine scramble - Paddy-Go-Easy - 10/7

tr2.jpeg"A fun scramble with lots of variety in terrain, grippy rock, impressive views, and gorgeous fall color." -Rose Gear

Highlights of this trip report include crisp air, sweeping views, grippy rock, fall colors, orange boulders, golden larches, and awesome company (to name a few).

Day Hike - Monte Cristo - 10/8

Fall colors continue... This time at Monte Cristo

Naturalist Trip - Upper Gold Creek Valley - 10/12

20241012_borderAlpineLkWilderness.jpg"A trip to observe and identify various fungi." -Roseanne Lorenzana

Gold Creek Valley, where the sky is blue, the fungi are plentiful, and everything is (quite literally) golden.

alpine scramble - Mount Henderson - 10/12

tr3.jpeg"The hills were red, gold, orange, and yellow - breathtaking!" -Meryl Lassen

The hills are alive with the... sight of fall colors (and maybe the sound of faint music if you listen closely). Tune in for a breathtaking scramble of Mount Henderson featuring bear trots, the new privy, a failed comet sighting, and a rock that - not unlike the rest of us - could benefit from a hug.

sea kayak - Dungeness Spit - 10/12

tr4.jpeg"Such a beautiful day!" -Lisa Johnson

I literally dare you to have a bad, sunny day on the Dungeness Spit. Just ask this group... the views of Mount Baker, wumping sea lions, and whispering waves make this a nearly impossible task, but props to those that try (and lose).

Alpine Scramble - Navaho Peak - 10/13

4046db9e-0bce-4581-aacc-9c8858492f49.jpeg"Who has eight thumbs and likes Navaho Peak?" -Nathan Goulding-Hotta

Navaho Peak aka a real treat.

Sea Kayak - Skagit & Hope Islands - 10/13

Happy to report this paddle delivered on both conditions and camaraderie. Tune in for a super duper sea kayak at Skagit and Hope

Day Hike - Eagle Peak Saddle - 10/23

IMG_3894.jpg"By paying closer attention to the journey, even the wildest weather forecasts can be a success and an opportunity to meet new, like-minded people." -Lisa Elliott

Yes, there will be mixed feelings about the sight of snow in October and no, we don't get to argue about it. Powder hounds... read on for an early taste of winter at Eagle Peak Saddle. Everyone else... love you, see you in May.
