Kitsap Forest Theater Access Update
After being locked out of Kitsap Forest Theater by Keta Legacy Foundation, The Mountaineers was successful in obtaining a temporary restraining order to ensure its 100th anniversary season could proceed. Today, we share an important update about our ongoing access at Kitsap Forest Theater, and our efforts to reach a long-term resolution to this challenge.

The Show Will Go On! The Sound of Music No Longer Locked Out
Last Friday, The Mountaineers filed a motion in federal court seeking a temporary restraining order after being locked out of access to Kitsap Forest Theater by the Keta Legacy Foundation. We are pleased to share with our community the news that our motion was granted by the court, and The Sound of Music will open this weekend as planned!
Keta Obstructs Sound of Music at Kitsap Forest Theater
In a disappointing move, Keta Legacy Foundation took steps this week to restrict access to the Kitsap Forest Theater, which may force The Mountaineers to cancel upcoming productions of The Sound of Music. The Mountaineers have filed a motion in federal court seeking a temporary restraining order (TRO) in an attempt to regain needed access to the theater. We regret having to share this sad news with our community.

Two years after Keta Legacy Foundation filed a federal lawsuit against The Mountaineers, we remain steadfast in our defense. Read this update about our work to defend the future of The Mountaineers and the wishes of our donors.
No Resolution on the Keta Legacy Foundation Lawsuit Against The Mountaineers
Unfortunately, the Keta Legacy Foundation has declined to respond to the settlement proposal we presented to them which would resolve their lawsuit against The Mountaineers. While we continue to be open resolving this in an amicable way, at this point we expect to go to trial to defend The Mountaineers and our donors later this year.
Safety & Security at the Seattle Program Center and Magnuson Park
Due to the pandemic, the past year has been one of the most challenging in the history of The Mountaineers. More recently, we’re facing another concerning challenge: a significant uptick in crime that is threatening the Seattle Program Center and its staff and visitors. An Important Update About the Keta Legacy Foundation Lawsuit Against The Mountaineers
In September 2019, the Keta Legacy Foundation filed a lawsuit against The Mountaineers in the U.S. District Court and took other actions to try to cancel and oppose The Mountaineers trademark registrations and applications. Read an update on our efforts to resolve this dispute - a proposal for a mutually-agreeable solution that avoids a costly and distracting trial and honors the intent of donors.
