Seminar Description

Prior to becoming an EMT, Chris, during a Mountaineers hiking trip near Leavenworth, suffered a severe laceration that resulted in an evacuation that lasted several hours and ultimately required a dozen stitches.

Bleeding, if not stopped, is a true medical emergency that will need immediate medical intervention.  We will discuss how bleeding happens, what equipment you might want to have on hand, and steps to take once bleeding is occurring. Please note that this seminar does provide credit towards a WFA, MOFA, or WFR recertification.

Chris Caviezel, EMT-B, has been a Mountaineers Member for 13 years as well as Mountaineers Hiking and Scrambling Leader.  Chris has also been an Emergency Medical Technician for 10 years  working with various Fire Departments and is a Search and Rescue member in King County (4x4 and SPART) as well as Kittitas County (Back Country and Winter Back Country teams).  Chris is also an Amateur Radio Operator and participates in Summits-on-the-Air.
