Looking for ways to deepen your facilitation toolbox? Join us for an in-person exploration of youth facilitation techniques and their application in adult education programs.

This workshop will focus on group facilitation techniques by drawing from standard practices in youth program settings, including ways to set the tone for a program using lightness and levity, how to support your group when the unexpected happens, the power of a well-timed ice breaker, and more. This session is designed for leaders looking to expand their facilitation technique toolbox for small and medium-size groups in program settings.

This interactive workshop will take place in-person at the Seattle Program Center. It will consist of a short, lecture-based presentation, break-out group style conversation, and space to practice facilitation techniques throughout the evening. Come prepared to try new things and think outside the box. 

Learning Outcomes

At this end of this session:

• Leaders will know a handful of new facilitation techniques to bring back to their own programming.
• Leaders will be able to name and implement a handful of group facilitation techniques commonly seen in youth and classroom settings (e.g. Think, Pair, Share)

PRESENTER

Tailor Dolgin is a member of the Mountaineers Seattle Youth Staff Team and has been in outdoor education since 2015. In that time she’s worked as an instructor, camp director, staff trainer, and program manager across the western US for programs serving 5-25 year olds. Born and raised in Colorado, her passion for the outdoors began at a young age and has only deepened as she’s landed in Washington and been able to explore the Pacific Northwest. As an educator, her facilitation and leadership background spans frontcountry and backcountry programming, indoor and outdoor classrooms, day and residential camp, and overnight programs.
