Learn how to provide meaningful and effective environmental education experiences during Mountaineers expeditions.
We’ll explore the theory and design principles behind effective environmental education. And we’ll look at examples of how environmental learning can be integrated into outdoor trips when leaders are not professional naturalists, and where trips are not focused on conservation.
You’ll learn how to go beyond LNT and trailside natural history to address values, environmental issues, and action strategies, using balanced, research-based best practices.
Participants will create an outline of how and when to include environmental activities in their next Mountaineers trip, and share ideas with other attendees about activities and sequences.
Participants will be provided additional resources for learning more.
