This will be a challenging scramble up a Smoot List peak and #29 most prominent peak in the state. It will first involve a very steep and brushy/overgrown ascent up a climbers path that gains 3200 feet in 1.5 miles! (like Mt. Teneriffe in steepness but with more brush, a bit longer with more gain) But then things get very beautiful higher up with some gorgeous terrain and scenery including the stunning Infinity Tarn. We will have to drop into a basin to cross to access the summit, then negotiate some exposed ramps and ledges. The views appear to be legendary! On the way out we may tag Tailgunner if we have time and energy. We will certainly not make it to Wing Peak.
The pace up this difficult route will be slow. Please be prepared for the level of difficulty both in steepness and in technical rating; this is certainly no beginner scramble and you should have previous S4-5 and T4-5 experience.
Here is a great trip report to read before you sign up for this: https://stevensong.com/usa/washington/gunn-peak/
Poor weather will postpone or cancel the trip. We will only attempt if summit rock will be dry, otherwise possible backup options are Townsend Mountain or Mount Howard.
