Bikepack - Cedar River Trail

A scenic and entertaining, mid-week, moderate-paced, gravel bike ride starting in SE Renton. You might say it's the Dirty Cedar Swan BD Riding Loop! Oh, and coffee first, if you want. This is a leader permission ride -- please read Leader Notes.

  • Mileage: 37.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 650 ft

1000am ready-to-ride if you would like to meet for coffee first.  1100am ready-to-ride if you are only coming to ride. Location TBD, but near the Starbucks at 14210 SE Petrovitsky Rd, Renton, WA  98058. Please read Leader Notes before requesting Leader Permission.

This is a fun and scenic ride with a little bit of everything. Leader permission is required due to a few slightly technical (easily walked) sections on dirt trails and the length of the ride. Basically, the leader just needs to know that you have an enough single-track experience/exposure and that you have enough riding endurance to hang with the group on the whole ride. If you have questions about that, please ask.

The ride will start from the Fairwood neighborhood in Renton, go past Lake Youngs (once called Swan Lake); wiggle down to the Cedar River Trail through neighborhoods and dirt trails (pavement and single-track); head south on the Cedar River Trail and Cedar-To-Green River Trail through Maple Valley and to Black Diamond (pavement and wide gravel trail); and then catch mostly-wide-shouldered roadways (pavement) and the Soos Creek Trail (pavement) to make our way back north.

Open to bikepacking graduates, bikepacking students, and equivalency candidates.

A group email will go out by Tuesday morning.
