Rarely offered hike on the west side of Rainier. From the Westside road TH we will hike the road up to Round Pass, then take the forested trail to South Puyallup camp. Here we will head north on the Wonderland Trail, up to the ridge top then around the cirque to the north, to St Andrews Lake.
Time Entry passes will no longer apply in the park (after September 2nd).
My goals for this trip are as follows:
1. Be safe.
2. Make it to St Andrews Lake
3. Learn something
My expectations for trip participants:
1. Be ok with some fast road walking. The road is easy and the grade is gentle and yes, it is boring.
2. Practice Leave No Trace principles.
3. Have the physical conditioning necessary for this trip. The hardest part will be the road walk, which is pretty boring. The actual trail is in great shape and not super strenuous (it is the WT after all, so usually in excellent shape).
4. Be respectful of all participants.
