Because this is early in the hiking season and road/trail conditions are in flux, participants must be flexible. For those staying overnight, other possible hikes the following day include: Tubal Cain Trail (https://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/tull-canyon) and Gray Wolf Trail (https://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/gray-wolf-river).

Participants may stay at the Louella Cabin in the northeast portion of Olympic National Forest the evening of April 23rd and depart the following morning. This is a VERY rustic cabin with no running water and only an outdoor toilet. It does, however, come with a few beds, heat, a basic kitchen, and possibly some mice! : )  Participants will bring sleeping bags, food, and water. Please read the complete description and reviews to make sure this cabin is for you.

We will have a zoom call with all participants to discuss the plan and logistics prior to the trip.

This is not a trip for beginner hikers; you should have completed comparable hikes this year. All participants must be fully vaccinated, boosted, and possibly have a negative antigen test before the trip (depending on covid risk that week). Because of the close sleeping quarters, please don’t be a snorer. Participants will share costs of the cabin reservation (approximately $21 per person) and gas. Payment will be required prior to the trip.

In your permission request, please state if you plan to stay at the cabin, what type of vehicle you have if you are willing to drive, and provide a link to your Mountaineers activity profile.

The meeting location and time are TBD depending on the location of participants. We will carpool in as few vehicles as possible. We'll plan to start hiking around 10am Sat. A rustic cabin will be available on the evening of April 23nd for those who wish to stay that night instead of driving back.
