Day Hike - Monte Cristo

*Hike turned around due to slippery log crossing. See trip report.* Follow the path of the Old Monte Cristo Railroad to the historical Monte Cristo town site. The Monte Cristo Railroad was used to transport minerals to Everett in the early 1900's. On the way to the town site, there are views to Twin Peaks and a log crossing over the South Fork Sauk River. Once at the town site, we will spend time exploring the cabins, camp sites, turntable, relics, and other history of the town site. This will be a slow paced hike, we will hike at the pace of the slowest hiker. Nobody will be left behind or hike on their own. There will be lots of time to explore and take pictures. *Please see leader note about river crossing*

LEADERS NOTE: There will be a log crossing over the South Fork Sauk River. It is a sturdy log crossing. Please do not sign up if you are not comfortable with the log crossing. Here is a link to a WTA report that has pictures of the log crossing at the bottom of the report. https://www.wta.org/go-hiking/trip-reports/trip_report.2018-05-29.0164444726 This report was from May 28th. The water level in the river is much lower at this time of year.

This will be a relaxed pace hike with time to explore and take pictures. Plan on spending 30-45 minutes for lunch. We will spend lots of time exploring the town site. The exploring will add about another half mile or so to the total mileage.
