This is a Naturalists outing, so we will be making plenty of stops for identification and appreciation purposes. They map and any further description may refer to the original goal of Ginkgo State Park.
At the same time, to reach the end of the hike where many of the best opportunities will be found, a good pace will be maintained. Bring sunscreen and binoculars and a hand lens if you have one. Best field guide for the area is Washington Wildflowers by Turner and Gustafsen. Best apps are Washington Wildflowers by Turner and Washington Wildflower Search. The nearest plant list is "Lower Rocky Coulee" in Kittitas County on the WNPS plants list.
We will begin with the 'Backcountry hike" and if time allows we may come back to the interpretive trails later in the day. We will separate into small groups for cross-country travel to minimize impact.
