Sea Kayak - Lake Washington: Concrete Beach

This Support, Turning, and Combination Strokes Workshop Series will meet at Concrete Beach, 0700 on each of three Saturdays; we will train on the water from 0800 to 1200. This series is designed to improve their strokes and maneuvers of the kayakers who are helping with the 2019 Basic Sea Kayak.Class .

On each of the three Saturdays we will meet at Concrete Beach –– near Sail Sand Point  –– at 07:00.  The sessions will run from 08:00 - 12:00'

 The first session, 5/11, will concentrate on maintaining and/or regaining balance while edging your kayak.

The second session, 5/18, will examine how edging skills and paddle placement can best be used to control your kayak.

The third session, 5/25, will involve linking and/or combining many of these  new skills in tactical situations.

With the exception of a short mid-morning break, we will be on the water from 08:00 - 12:00.  Bring a snack and dress for immersion.

These eight essentials plus The Ten Essentials are required on all sea kayaking trips.  All but the whistle and clothing should be provided with any kayak rental.

  1. Floatation in both ends of the kayak
  2. U.S. Coast Guard approved Personal Flotation Device (PFD)
  3. Paddle
  4. Spray skirt
  5. Bilge pump with floatation
  6. Self-rescue paddle float
  7. Waterproof whistle
  8. Appropriate clothing for the conditions encountered seasonally
