Anaxshat Passage
A multi-day 118 mile bikepack through some of Central Oregon's most stunning scenery and terrain (total elevation gain 9,840', 47% paved and 53% unpaved). Starting from the town of Estacada, OR, this 3-4 day loop route travels along the beautiful Clackamas River before ascending through forested hills and riding along alpine lakes.

getting there
Take I-5 S and I-205 S to OR-212 E/OR-224 E. Follow OR-224 E to Broadway St., Estacada, OR.
On the route
The route begins at Estacada City Hall (where cars can be parked overnight). Starting from City Hall, the route travels counter clockwise along the Clackamas River, then ascends north on the Skyline Road towards Timothy Lake. From Timothy Lake, the route continues north, then west, ultimately descending down Abbot Road and back along the highway to Estacada. The route riding terrain includes paved highway, paved rural road, gravel double track, and gravel and dirt single track.
Suggested itinerary
- Day 1: Estacada City Hall to Riverside Campground (mile 34)
- Day 2: Riverside Campground to Timothy Lake Campgrounds (mile 64)
- Day 3: Timothy Lake Campgrounds to Twin Springs Campground (mile 93.5) or Dispersed Camping Along Abbot Road
- Day 4: Descend Abbot Road heading west to meet up with HW224 to ride north back to Estacada City Hall (mile 118).
Camping and Water
Developed, primitive, and dispersed campsites are plentiful along the route. Water is easily available at campsites, creeks, and lakes along the first 2/3 of the route. Riding the last 1/3 of the route, there is less water readily available, but there is one established spring to fill up at at mile 88.5.
Essential Gear and skills
A hardtail mountain bike with a minimum of 2" tires is recommended for this route due to some sections of chunky trail and technical single track. Riders should have proficient mountain biking skills for the unpaved sections of this trail.
