Bead Lake
A nice shady hike along a lakeshore trail in the Colville National Forest. Follow a gently graded trail that takes you up through cedar forest and down along the shoreline with opportunities for a swim. It's 11.2 miles round trip with 2,100 feet of elevation gain.
getting there
Drive east on US 2 from Newport, crossing the Pend Oreille River, and turn left onto Leclerc Road. In 2.7 miles, turn right onto Bead Lake Road and continue for 6.1 miles. Turn right onto Bead Lake Ridge Road (Forest Road 3215) and drive 0.5 mile to the trailhead (3,015 ft).
