Boat Launch Wall

A 100-foot high-quality sandstone cliff, and the highest, in Larrabee State Park. Rock climbs are mostly 5.7 to 5.9 top rope, and the cliff can only be accessed at low tide.

getting there

From Bellingham: Take Exit 250 off of I-5 south of Bellingham and turn west onto Old Fairhaven Parkway. Drive 0.1 mile, turn left onto 30th St and drive 1 mile (30th St becomes 32nd St).  Turn right onto Old Samish Rd, drive 0.6 mile, and turn left onto Chuckanut Drive (SR-11). Drive ?4.1? miles south, turn right onto Cove Rd and follow it to the the  Larrabee State Park boat launch parking lot.

From Mount Vernon: Take Exit 231 off of I-5 north of Mount Vernon , drive ?14.5? miles north on Chuckanut Drive (SR-11), turn left onto  Cove Rod and follow it to the Larrabee State Park boat launch parking lot.

approach

From the boat launch parking lot follow the trail leading up the left side of the slab for access to the top of the cliff, and follow the beach to the bottom of the cliff.

notes

  • The walls may also be approached from Larrabee State Park's main parking lot during low tide.
  • The bottom of the cliff is almost totally inaccessible during high tide so check before you head out.
