Henderson Inlet
An inlet in south Puget Sound near Olympia that is 4.5 nautical miles in length but has few sea kayak launch spots. Chapman and Woodard Bays on the inlets west shore are a nature preserve with a large seal population and limited seasonal access.
launch points
While only 4.5 nm in length, Henderson Inlet has no convenient launch access sites, making it an interesting but longer paddle. The inlet can be reached by paying the launch fee at a Zittle's Marina on Johnson point or starting from Boston Harbor and adding another 3.5 nm one-way to the trip.
on the water
Chapman and Woodward Bays on the inlet's west shore are a nature preserve with a large seal and in season, bird population. Woodward Bay has a water access site, but it is closed during the winter due to migrant birds and has limited daytime high tide accessibility in summer.
