Stretch & Reach Islands
A pair of islands to sea kayak around that are located in upper Case Inlet in Puget Sound. Stretch Island State Park occupies the northeast tip of Stretch Island and offers a convenient break or lunch stop (but no toilets).
Launch & Landing Points
- Fair Harbor Marina. There are toilets on opposite side of SR-3.
- Allyn Waterfront Park. Toilets are available year-around. On a low tide, launch from and land at the floating dock. The mud flats can be hazardous because of the soft ground.
- Port of Grapeview. Planned opening Jul 1, 2021.
- Stretch Point State Park Property
ON THE WATER
Often the islands are circumnavigated in a figure eight. The passage between Stretch Island and the mainland dries at low tides, requires about a three foot tide level. Additional exploration can be made, especially at high tides into inlets along the Mason County shore both north and south of the islands.
