Butte Camp
A trail is on the south side of Mount St. Helens that wanders through lava flows, pumice plains full of wildflowers, huckleberries and old growth forest. It leads to a viewpoint with views of Mount Hood, the south side of Mount St. Helens and the Indian Heaven and Trapper Creek Wilderness areas.
getting there
Take Exit 21 (Woodland) off of I-5 and drive 36 miles east on SR-503 which becomes Forest Road 90 just past Cougar. Turn left onto Forest Road 83, drive 3 miles, turn left onto Forest Road 81, and drive 2.9 miles to the trailhead (3,100 ft).
