Silver King
Just above Elizabeth Lake, this is the high point of all the ridges that border the Crystal Mountain ski resort. Views are superb. This is a good introductory snow scramble, but can only be done after the ski area closes.
driving directions
Drive to the Crystal Mountain Ski Resort off US 410.
approach & ascent
Follow the ski slopes to Elizabeth Lake. Intersect Silver King's east ridge at about 6,400 ft to avoid cliff areas lower down. Then follow the ridge to the summit.
descent
Follow the Crystal Mountain ridge north from the summit past the "Throne" at 6,861 ft and descend (a good glissade) from the Throne/Silver Queen summit (6,980 ft). Then follow ski slopes back to the trailhead.
