approach & ascent
From the Phelps Creek trailhead, hike to Phelps Creek Basin and camp. Find broad gully to boulder field, ascend to notch on shoulder, climb narrow fault to saddle, scramble right to summit Dumbell Mountain (8,421 ft). Descend to the saddle and ascend northwest to the summit of Greenwood Mountain (8,415 ft).
