Eastside Trail (Mount Rainier)
Hike from one-way or out-and-back from Deer Creek or Grove of the Patriarchs on the Eastside Trail in Mount Rainier National Park. It's up to 13 miles round trip and 1,100 feet of elevation gain.
getting there
Grove of the Patriarchs
Drive SR-123 to 11 miles south of its junction with SR-410 and turn west onto Stevens Canyon Road, enter Mount Rainier National Park, and continue 0.2 mile to the large parking area (2,200 ft).
Deer Creek
Drive SR-123 5 miles south of its junction with SR-410 and the parking area (3,300 ft).
On the Trail
Grove of the Patriarchs
Hike north on the Grove of the Patriarchs Trail and in 0.3 mile reach its junction with the Eastside Trail. Bear right and hike the 0.4 mile to the Grove of the Patriarchs, a nice side trip. Continue north on the Eastside Trail as far as desired passing many waterfalls along the way.
Deer Creek
Hike 0.4 mile to Deer Creek Camp, turn left, and head south on the Eastside Trail. Hike as far as desired passing many water falls along the way.
