Launch from the boat ramp and paddle north to the sunken barge bird reserve, then on to Jetty island. Circumnavigate the island and return to launch. Or paddle further into Possession Sound to Hat Island, officially named Gedney Island.

- Depending on winds, water may be unsettled on southwest side of island.
- Wind out of west or southwest can be a factor along west side of island.
- At tide levels below five feet, waves can form in shallows at north end of island, so plan this trip near high tide.
- Watch boat traffic when crossing channel near marina.
