Frye Cove County Park

This Thurston County Park near Olympia is on the Steamboat Island Peninsula. A loop trail winds around Frye Cove and Eld Inlet, and sports a varied terrain that includes beaches and bluffs. At low tide you can extend your trip with a walk on the beach.

GETTING THERE

Take the Steamboat Island Exit off of SR 8. Turn left onto Sexton Dr and then right onto Steamboat Island Rd NW.  In approximately 1 mile turn right onto Gravelly Beach Rd NW. It becomes Gravelly Beach Loop NW in 2 miles.  After a sharp bend in the road, turn left onto Young Rd NW. In 0.5 mile turn right onto 61st Ave NW.  Continue on this road and bear right at the intersection with Boardman Rd NW Enter Frey Cove County Park in 0.5 mile.  Proceed another 0.4 mile to parking.

ON THE TRAIL

The trail system consists of an outer loop with several connecting trails. The well kept trails ascend to bluffs and descend to ravines.  Enjoy views over the water and on clear days Mount Rainier shines in the distance.
