Goat Mountain (Cle Elum)
A long, 10-mile one-way trail approach leads to a challenging 5,400-foot scramble of this prominent summit which rises steeply above the Cle Elum River.
approach & ascent
From the end of the Cle Elum River Road (Forest Road 4330) hike the trail that leads to Squaw Lake but turn left at the junction and take the Trail Creek Trail (No. 1322) to another junction, turning left on the Lake Michael Trail. The total mileage to Lake Michael and good camping is about 9 miles. The scramble route to Goat Mountain involves considerable talus and careful routefinding around cliffy terrain.
