hope & mig lakes
4.6 miles round trip with 1,550 feet of elevation gain, 4,650 ft high point
These are Hope and Mig ponds, actually-but what these two little lakes lack in surface area they make up for in setting. Especially if it's flowers or berries you seek. Hike the Tunnel Creek Trail 1.6 miles to its junction with the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) and Hope Lake. Turn left and hike south 0.9 mile on the PCT to Mig Lake.
tunnel creek to surprise creek
12 miles one-way, 3,100 feet of elevation gain, 5,800 ft high point
This route begins at the Tunnel Creek trailhead and joins with the PCT (Pacific Crest Trail) at Hope Lake. Head south on the PCT, over Trap Pass, then on to Surprise Lake and out via Surprise Creek. Pretty alpine scenery and several scenic lakes make this is an excellent option for a one-way traverse day hike as the two trailheads are only about 3 miles apart.
