Little Mountain Park
A Mount Vernon city park with more than 10 miles of trails on Little Mountain east of town. Views of Mount Baker and the Skagit Valley abound. This park is popular with mountain bikers, but there are some hiker-only trails.
getting there
Take Exit 225 off of I-5 and turn east onto Anderson Rd which becomes LaVenture Rd. Drive 1 mile from the exit, turn right onto Blackburn Rd, and drive 0.3 mile. Turn onto Little Mountain Rd, drive 0.4 mile, and turn right onto the park's road and parking lot (400 ft). There is more parking at ~0.7 mile from the start of the park's road and at end of the road at the summit (930 ft).
There are additional trailheads further east on Little Mountain Rd and to the south off of E Hickory Rd.

The park contains a series of trails that can be combined in any number of combinations into hikes that are longer or shorter, harder or easier, out-and-back or loop. There are two main viewpoints, one looking west over the Skagit Valley and the other looking north towards Mount Baker. The terrain varies from flat to rolling hills to steep hillsides.
