Marten Creek
A moderate, 7.5 mile round trip snowshoe with 1,300 feet of elevation gain. The narrow, winding trail follows the creek up to the western foot of Bald Mountain. A great trip if you're looking for winter solitude.
getting there
From Granite Falls drive east on the Mountain Loop Highway about 9 miles pas the Verlot Public Service Center to the Marten Creek Trailhead (1,400 ft).

5-7.5 miles round trip, 1,300 feet of elevation gain
Snowshoe up along the east (right) side of Marten Creek. The first 2.5 miles is relatively easy travel. After that finding a good path through the woods can be more challenging.
Anaconda Peak (5,046 ft)
9 miles round trip, 3,640 feet of elevation gain
Snowshoe up along the east right side of Marten Creek to ~2,400 ft. Cross the creek and continue roughly northwest to the summit of Anaconda Peak (5,046 ft).
