getting there

Take Exit 62 off of I-90, turn right, drive 1.1 miles, and turn right onto Forest Road 5480. Drive 4.1 miles, going straight at the junction with Forest Road 5483 to stay on Forest Road 5480, and reach a three-way junction at Lost Lake. Drive straight,  the middle option, for 2.7 miles to the road's end and trailhead (3,600 ft).

3.0 miles round trip with 800 feet of elevation gain, 4,200 ft high point

Hike one mile to Cottonwood Lake  and then 0.6 mile to the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). Turn left to head south on the PCT to walk along the shores of Mirror Lake (4,200 ft).

6.0 miles round trip, 2,100 feet of elevation gain, 5,402 ft high point

Hike one mile to Cottonwood Lake  and then 0.6 mile to the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). Turn right and hike ~0.6 mile north on the PCT and turn left on the boot path that leads ~1.0 mile to the summit of Tinkham Peak (5,402 ft).
