Mount Walker
A short but steep hike to Mount Walker on the Olympic Peninsula. The 2 mile trail tops off on the north end of the peak and then one can travel an additional 0.5 miles to the south viewpoint.
GETTING THERE
From US-101 turn onto Forest Road 2730 between Quilcene and Brinnon. Park at the Mount Walker Lower Trailhead.
ON THE TRAIL
A winding uphill hike with occasional peek-a-boo views of the Hood Canal, topped off with a views of the entire canal from the North and South Lookouts, great views of the interior peaks from the North Lookout. Rhodies bloom in June and July along the trail. Parking is at the locked gate at Hwy 101 in the winter, adding just a wee bit more to the hike.
