Nooksack Cirque
A nine-mile round trip lowland hike along the banks of the Nooksack River that leads to spectacular scenery at the base of Mount Shuksan in the North Cascades.
Getting There
Drive SR-542 (Mount Baker Highwway) 46.3 miles east of Bellingham and turn left onto Forest Road 32 (Hannegan Pass Road). Drive 1.3 miles, turn right onto Forest Road 34, and continue to the road's end and trailhead (2,150 ft).
On the Trail
Hike the Nooksack Cirque Trail 4.5 miles first crossing Ruth Creek to the cirque and grand view of Mount Shuksan.
Notes
- The trail is best hiked in late summer or early fall, when the rivers and streams are low enough to ford.
